I knew pregnancy and motherhood were going to be challenging, but I didn’t expect that I would never have time to paint my nails! I mean, I can lock myself in a room for a few minutes to do it, but I feel guilty not spending every free minute with my children. That’s why this blog fell from they wayside after I started it in 2014 after the birth of my daughter, Genevieve. But here I am, three years and another baby later (Luca, my son was born in May 2017) ready to revive my passion of blogging!
I’m a working mom. I spend my 9-5 hours in public relations and influencer marketing, so I decided that since I spend all day pitching mommy bloggers, it’s about time I become one again!
But this won’t be your usual mommy blog. I plan on incorporating my background as journalist to bring my readers featured interviews with experts and other fun stories. Expect posts to be short and sweet, because that’s all busy mom’s have time to read.
Here’s a bit of my professional background:
I’m a Publicist. I’m a public relations leader with a strong background in journalism and Internet TV production. I have led both consumer-facing and thought-leadership campaigns on the local and national levels. My clients have been in music, entertainment, solar energy, healthcare, life sciences, law, insurance… you name it. I easily transition between all, whether I’m pitching a thought-leader byline or product for review. I also have experience working social media campaigns and securing influencers. I’ve scored featured for my clients on MTV (Jersey Shore, Real World), Showtime, The New York Times, AOL Radio, Wall Street Journal and Forbes, to name a few. I have an old site called Hello,Joelle to detail more.
I wrote a book. My self-published book, Trash the Dress: Stories of Celebrating Divorce in your 20s, (November 2014) has been featured on International Business Times, The Sydney Morning Herald (Australia), Maclean’s (Canada), The Globe and Mail (Canada) and Dr. Oz’s YouBeauty.com, to name a few.
I freelance write on occasion. As a freelance writer, my articles have been published on Huffington Post , YourTango, The Nest, Teen People, Venus ‘Zine and in other media outlets.
I lauched a music zine/ blog/ Internet TV show before it was all cool. While in college, I founded Planet Verge, an all-female staffed ‘zine (yep, a print magazine!) that transitioned into an indie lifestyle website and Internet TV show, to report on “what’s hot and what’s important.” We had a blog before blogs were a thing. And then we focused on making online TV. During that time, I produced video segments with international superstars including 30 Seconds to Mars and David Garrett, stood whiskers away from endangered tigers while reporting on their plight and organized concerts to benefit shelter dogs. I had that time of my life. But then, I grew up! I got married, had kids and found that I was totally removed from this old exciting lifestyle. I had new dreams to pursue: my happily ever after family life!
Here I am now. Say hello to this Joelle!
-My husband, Frank , and I reside with our kiddies in a renovated log cabin in NJ. We’re foodies, but I can’ t cook.
– I have Epstein Barr Virus/chronic fatigue syndrome/ Systemic Exertion Intolerance Disease. All those names just mean I am super tired all the time and that pregnancy and life with a toddler and infant is super easy. Or not.
-I’m straight-edge. What? You never heard of it? Seems like a rare breed of humans these days. It just means I don’t smoke, drink or do drugs. Never have. Not a preacher, just a personal choice.
– Food allergies. I have a lot.
-Both my kids were delivered by C-section and I don’t feel guilt about it at all.
-My son is my rainbow baby.
-My dogs are my fur-children. We have two rescued shelter pets. #adoptdontshop
-I got divorced in my 20s and wrote a book about it, Trash the Dress: Stories of Celebrating Divorce in your 20s.
-I tried breast feeding but quickly discovered that it’s not for me (props to those who stick with it.
-Oh and #tattooedmom.
