Hey Moms! Want to Get Glam? Visit the BRAND NEW Muah Makeup & Lash Bar in Westwood, NJ!

This past weekend, I was invited to a press event at Muah Makeup & Lash Bar (MMLB) in Westwood, NJ to learn about the wide array of beauty products and services available to the public (and more specifically to MOMS)! QUICK BACKGROUND: For over six years, owner Ashlee K. has worked in the makeup industry as a NYC freelance artist, instructor, beauty blogger, etc. After making the move from the Big Apple to Bergen County, NJ, Ashlee now brings women of all ages honest, affordable makeup products and services. When I first walked through the doors of MMLB, I never would have guessed the store had just celebrated its grand opening. Ashlee K. and her team of makeup artists were talking amongst each other like they had been working together seamlessly for years. In the far right corner, I could hear an employee telling her client just how gorgeous she looked and, of course, asking if she felt comfortable with her new look. Right off the bat, I was pleased – it was obvious that …

BABY —-> BIG GIRL

My child turned one last week and has since: gotten two new teeth (poking through on the top next to her two front teeth) given up bottles and graduated to sippy cups ONLY switched to whole milk from formula The next thing I know, she is going to be pulling out of the driveway, in her own car, and NOT EVEN THINKING ABOUT ME. Just having a mommy moment, AH! Look — she is already planning her escape from baby world to REAL LIFE on her doc-mobile.

Pediatrician Drama!

I am one of those crazy, research everything moms. Before I had Briella I spent weeks researching pediatricians and googling patient reviews to make sure I found the best doctor in the area for my baby. I LOVED our doctor, she was amazing, personable, informative, etc. But,  when we moved I had to start all over again, and it has not been easy. The area that I am looking for a pediatrician in doesn’t seem to have ANY pediatricians with good reviews! How is that possible? I finally found a family doctor (not specifically a pediatrician, but a general practitioner), who had awesome reviews, so I figured I’d give him a chance because I was running out of time. Briella just turned one the other day and she needed her shots, so I made an appointment. WELL – my appointment was at 11:30am, we didn’t even get seen by the doctor until 1:30pm. That alone was enough to irritate me, but I figured, “Maybe this doctor is just so amazing that he is overwhelmed by …

First Birthday Party Planning

I remember the day my daughter was born like it was yesterday. Here I am, 11.5 months later, planning her 1st birthday party – I’m not even going to try and pretend like I don’t tear up every day thinking about how much she has changed in the last year, because I totally do. #noshame Anyways, with all of my tears, comes SO MUCH EXCITEMENT because we have decided to throw Briella a ballerina tu-tu birthday party (gold, pink and white color scheme)! I searched all over Etsy.com and finally found her the most beautiful birthday outfit: a white onesie with gold lettering that says “ONE,” a light pink tu-tu and a beautiful glitter and gold bow. She is going to look like such a princess! We are going to buy her a formal, fondant cake – I haven’t decided on the design yet, but of course it will be something ballerina/tu-tu related. =) Oh, AND – I am going to make her one of these cupcake dresses, too! If you haven’t guessed it yet, …

On the Grind

When Briella was five months old, her pediatrician told us, “I don’t see any signs of teeth just yet. She is definitely going to be a late teether.” Keep in mind, my daughter had been teething since about three months – nights of screaming, chewing on everything, etc. So, obviously, my initial reaction to that statement was, “You’ve GOT to be kidding me…” Well, later that week, my little princess got two bottom teeth at the same time – WOOHOO! Here we are, six months later, and her two top teeth FINALLY showed up. I was trying so hard to figure out why my sweet little baby had suddenly turned into a MONSTER the past couple weeks, and I am relieved to know – she is not 1/2 devil. She is a completely normal baby, teething just got the best of her! =) With that being said, MY CHILD WONT STOP GRINDING HER CUTE LITTLE TEETH!!! I’m scared she is going to grind them down to nothing, and to be perfectly honest — now that …

Every Parent’s Worst Nightmare

For months, Glenn and I have been trying to figure out a time to have our daughter baptized, and every time we tried to pick a date, or a church, etc. something came up and changed our plans. Well, I am proud to say – last weekend it finally happened – my child has officially been christened, woohoo! Didn’t she look gorgggg?! Of course, I took hundreds of pictures of my little baby model in her fabulous dress, with her new jewelry and good-looking Godparents. Then, I shared my photos with the world on Facebook, because WHO DOESN’T LIKE TO SHOW OFF THEIR AMAZING KIDS?! Later that weekend I got a text from my sister, Briella’s Godmother, sharing a text message she had received from a friend of a friend. The text said something along the lines of, “I was scrolling through my newsfeed on Facebook and came across pictures of you and your adorable little niece and just wanted to share something with you. I am in school to be a nurse practitioner and …

How Do You Ever Know What’s Right?!

I grew up in NY, moved to Orlando, FL for a few months and then moved to Williamsburg, VA and have been here for about a year and a half. I like change. I always have, and probably always will. Moving from state to state wasn’t exactly easy, but it was definitely adventurous and kept us on our toes. Now after having Briella, I have been battling with how I want (actually, more like need) to plan our future. It is extremely difficult to have a baby and live eight hours away from family, and for a while my fiancé and I were making it work – we were even considering buying a house down here! Well, we just got back from VA after visiting NY for over a month, and needless to say – we are packing up and moving back north in ONE SHORT WEEK. Again, not because we don’t like Williamsburg, in fact – we love it. We’re heartbroken that we are going back to NY. But, the reality is – Glenn …
