Save the Mombies

New Mombies are initiated into society on a daily basis. This exhausted segment of the female population can usually be identified by dark circles under her eyes, a staggering walk, and a cup of coffee in her hand. Women turn into Mombies after giving birth and only one thing can stop them: sleep. Yet, scary statistics reveal that mothers of children under 18-months-old are barely clocking in five hours a night. My son is nine months old and I’m getting about four hours of sleep a night. He just wants to be held to sleep and then cries when I lay him down. So, I’m a Mombie. I could try sleep training, but as working mom who only sees her baby at night, I feel awful watching him cry. If he wants mommy love, he will get it! We were doing much better than the every two hour wake up,  but I suspect teething might be a cause for his wake-ups. For now, I’ll just take it one day at a time and enjoy my …

Teething Survival Secrets

A few weeks ago, my husband and I endured our daughter’s worst teething episode thus fur. She had two upper teeth breaking through and an upper respiratory infection. The first night she started with symptoms, we didn’t get her to sleep until 5:00 a.m. and that only lasted for an hour and a half. It was brutal. She even started to run a low-grade fever. I took her to the pediatrician the next morning just to make sure there was nothing seriously wrong because we had never seen her in so much distress. But alas, she was diagnosed with a very bad cold and teething. That’s when I started to ask my mommy friends for teething remedies. We tried infant Tylenol, cold toys, frozen towels, you name it. One thing we didn’t try was infant Motrin! I didn’t even know there was a difference between Motrin and Tylenol but our doctor said that Motrin is better for teething pain because it’s an anti-inflammatory. Friends advised and our doctor confirmed that it was safe to alternate …

Bye Bye Baby Online

See what I did there? You will after I explain. I had to buy a few baby items online: –A Sophie teether. Megan’s blog convinced me I need to suck it up and get this for Genevieve. –A foam play mat. We have hardwood floors and the area rug in our living room is still not soft enough for playtime. -A Monkey Mat portable floor. I actually didn’t even need this, but once I came across it, I decided I want it. This will be great for outdoor summer parties and when we go to the town pool and the beach. Because I want these items ASAP and don’t have the energy or time to trek to Buy Buy Baby, I decided to order online. I know that meant giving up the $5 off and $20 percent discount coupons that are only accepted in-store. (Dear husband: don’t yell at me if you read this). Convenience over cash! After placing my order and getting frustrated that I couldn’t find any free shipping codes online, I decided …
