Teething Survival Secrets

A few weeks ago, my husband and I endured our daughter’s worst teething episode thus fur. She had two upper teeth breaking through and an upper respiratory infection. The first night she started with symptoms, we didn’t get her to sleep until 5:00 a.m. and that only lasted for an hour and a half. It was brutal. She even started to run a low-grade fever. I took her to the pediatrician the next morning just to make sure there was nothing seriously wrong because we had never seen her in so much distress. But alas, she was diagnosed with a very bad cold and teething. That’s when I started to ask my mommy friends for teething remedies. We tried infant Tylenol, cold toys, frozen towels, you name it. One thing we didn’t try was infant Motrin! I didn’t even know there was a difference between Motrin and Tylenol but our doctor said that Motrin is better for teething pain because it’s an anti-inflammatory. Friends advised and our doctor confirmed that it was safe to alternate …

On the Grind

When Briella was five months old, her pediatrician told us, “I don’t see any signs of teeth just yet. She is definitely going to be a late teether.” Keep in mind, my daughter had been teething since about three months – nights of screaming, chewing on everything, etc. So, obviously, my initial reaction to that statement was, “You’ve GOT to be kidding me…” Well, later that week, my little princess got two bottom teeth at the same time – WOOHOO! Here we are, six months later, and her two top teeth FINALLY showed up. I was trying so hard to figure out why my sweet little baby had suddenly turned into a MONSTER the past couple weeks, and I am relieved to know – she is not 1/2 devil. She is a completely normal baby, teething just got the best of her! =) With that being said, MY CHILD WONT STOP GRINDING HER CUTE LITTLE TEETH!!! I’m scared she is going to grind them down to nothing, and to be perfectly honest — now that …

Bye Bye Baby Online

See what I did there? You will after I explain. I had to buy a few baby items online: –A Sophie teether. Megan’s blog convinced me I need to suck it up and get this for Genevieve. –A foam play mat. We have hardwood floors and the area rug in our living room is still not soft enough for playtime. -A Monkey Mat portable floor. I actually didn’t even need this, but once I came across it, I decided I want it. This will be great for outdoor summer parties and when we go to the town pool and the beach. Because I want these items ASAP and don’t have the energy or time to trek to Buy Buy Baby, I decided to order online. I know that meant giving up the $5 off and $20 percent discount coupons that are only accepted in-store. (Dear husband: don’t yell at me if you read this). Convenience over cash! After placing my order and getting frustrated that I couldn’t find any free shipping codes online, I decided …

Do YOU Know Sophie?

Briella may only be 10 months, but she already has a few best friends: Sophie, Da-Da, Kaipo (our French bulldog)…. then comes the neighbor, her fourth cousin twice removed, the cashier at Wal-Mart, random strangers, and so on…I fall somewhere at the bottom of that list. (Note: I have been trying to move up in rank, but for some reason my baby only wants to associate with me when she’s tired, hungry, needs to be changed, etc. – you get the picture)! Anyways, are you wondering who Sophie is?! If you think she may be another sweet little girl Briella has playdates with, you are so WRONG! Here is Sophie: Since Briella was about two months old, Sophie has been her go-to buddy. I have no idea what it is about this $30 rubber giraffe that captivates my baby, but we cannot leave the house without her unless we want to witness a full-blown tantrum. Sophie made her first appearance at my baby shower when I received her as a gift – little did I know …
